Flames Rise From the Ashes of Defeat .....

Flames rose from the Ashes of defeat at Stumps last week and unleashed a storm on last years runners up Latimer Old Boys.

Flames skipper won the toss for the 4th consecutive match, and due to the failing light decided to bat, when he had wanted to put the LOB in first. Lifelong Flames players Sam Street and Gareth Rodderick opened the batting, and well in fairness closed the batting aswell. In an awesome display of batting the pair had an unbeaten partnership of 210 from the available 14 overs, with Rodderick hitting an unbeaten 115 and Street 81.

Flames had good reason to be confident that at half time they were well ahead of the game, but Flames skipper tried to keep the boys feet on the ground. In reply the LoBs made a good fist of their chase - being restricted in Herberts spell of 4 overs for 27-1, Thorpe and Hayward were a little more expensive however Hayward did pick up two important wickets during his spell, and Peel with 3 overs for 39 at the death saw the Flames home - with a margin of only 30 runs in the end.

Flames skipper Rogers hands over to Hayward for next weeks match at Great Oakley, with confidence if not expectation still riding high after winning 3 games out of the first 4 in top flight midweek cricket..
